Beauty Beheld

[and] the true beauty of the work consists in the beauty of the sentiment or emotion which it inspires.” Half a century later, Jane Peterson echoed Inness’ conclusion that beauty is central to art when stating, “In the final analysis our only contribution down through the ages will be our record of the beauty of expression...Let the generations come to know that artistically...we tried to find beauty!”

The Enduring Spirit of American Realism is a two-part exhibition that reexamines the artistic practice of Realism in the United States through two lenses: that of its "traditional" definition in A Touch of Tradition and that of its "modern" application in A Nod to the Mod. We are pleased to continue championing the dynamic tradition of American Realism through this exhibition, and we are excited to engage with our clients in the ongoing conversation of what defines "Realism."
